Why styling for your session is so important..
One of your social media friends shares a photograph from their wedding gallery and you can’t help but “love” it! The colors between the groomsmen ties & bridesmaids dresses coordinates perfectly and it’s so aesthetically pleasing to your eye… All the planning and coordinating is truly worth all the time and energy in the end! When something is aesthetically pleasing it creates a bolder memory in someones mind. Who doesn’t want a bolder memory of their special moment?!
Clothing comes in all different types textures, colors, patterns etc. and these can clash really easily with your partners outfit or even the background if you don’t plan or coordinate before hand.
Consider the location
Don’t choose overpowering colors; If you’re going to be in a location that’s really green I normally recommend going for neutrals & light colors. Green can be extremely overpowering, especially when you wear an equally overpowering color like red. You want to capture all the emotions, feels & expressions; you don’t want your focus to be on your clothing!
This is part of the reason why black tux, white wedding dress & greenery is a classic wedding look, it draws more attention to all the emotion in their expressions.
You each have a color…
This is a tricky tip but once you get the hang of it you’ll use it for the rest of your life! Remember; you must coordinate, not clash!
The other persons accent color will match your main color.
example: If you love light purple you car wear it as a dress or jumpsuit and have your partner incorporate the same tone or in a shirt, tie even add in a bouquet.
Sometimes this rule can be broken but it’s best to stay within the same color scheme.
Go for Two!
If you have an outfit change for your session, utilize it, it’s perfect for capturing a fun, formal outfit but also a causal, relaxed outfit as well!
Besides your wedding day this will probably be the only other day where you dress up fancy & take pictures, so why not! Going for a formal outfit takes your session up a notch and that detail never goes unnoticed it really brings so much more creativity & style to your portraits.
My favorite is when couples show up in their most elegant dress and suit.
My couples always feel so confident and it radiates in all the photographs!

Don’t stress
For all my clients, don’t stress!
I’m all about the details & creating the perfect scenery that’s authentic to you!
After a client books with me I send out a simple questionnaire getting to know the basics about them and our session.
Once my client books their consultation call I hop on the phone for a call or FaceTime and get to know them, their story and more about their vision.
When we hangup from our call I almost instantly create a “mood board” on Pinterest. This creates the perfect vibe and feel of what we’re aiming to accomplish with our session.
I’m also able to add my clients to the Pinterest board which is super exciting because I love seeing my clients input and inspiration.
The week before our session we get on another call to finalize details and I talk to them a little more about posing and what they can expect. After our call is finished I send over a session questionnaire asking more detailed questions about things like wether or not they’re comfortable with kissing or how spicy they want their pictures to be, sitting on the ground, any personal details I should know about etc!
Along with my session questionnaire I also send over a link through the Unscripted app so they can look though any posing inspiration I have saved to their profile.
My system has been working so well this season and really helps my clients when it comes to planning & stylizing their session to make it more authentic to them!
